Everything that is written here is based on my personal knowledge and experience. By the time I wrote this article I did not work for any large company and therefore do not know how the industry works. I came to these tricks/tips/working systems by myself and with my own experience. Therefore there is a chance that there are better ways to do the things I explain here. That's right boys and girls. "Happy Birthday" is a copyrighted song. AOL/Time-Warner owns it, bringing in about $2million in royalty payments every year, and they will continue to use and make some serious cash off this until the year 2030. Why do you think that annoying restaurant-esque 'happy-happy-birthday!' yada is more prevalent in films (and in actual restaurants) than the traditional melody we all sing at parties? Unless you have $10,000USD to fork over, you will not be using this song anytime soon.

Animation ResourcesDeviantART Film is released! Now animators and film makers are all trying to get more amazing work together to post up, but the cost is often a big set back when it comes to the production of short films, or animation. It doesn't have to be! There are tons of Free or low cost programs out there that can help you assemble or create your animation.
I've used the Film Forum to help me compile a list of animation programs that you can use. They range from Free to high cost programs, but most or all of these programs have a free trial version!
Some of these are very expensive professional programs and some are completely free! When its available I've stated if its free or the price that the website lists! I've also reviewed products I've used! if you have use one of these, feel free to note me a review of the product.

What is it???

It's a filmmaker's dream challenge.

Using one of the two winning scripts from the literature communities prior contest... the film community is invited to turn a One-Act Play into a short film that presents the creativity and vision behind the written script.
This is a unique opportunity for a collaboration between the literature and film artists and provides an excellent experience for any film maker and animator!

The end of Polaroid film. The end of an art?60 years have passed since a strange guy called Edwin Herbert Land started something that has changed the photography world, it was the first Polaroid istant camera. Since that day, thousands of kids, adults, photographers, artists and wannabe's had snapshotted the world, and now all that could be come to an end!
After 60 years the Polaroid Corp. is exiting the film business and closing plants in Massachusetts... no more istant cameras, no more istant films...
Does it also means no more istant photographers?
We don't believe that!

Filmmaking: 10 good advices for beginners!10- Watch many films in the genre you like best, so you can get inspired and get ideas
We've said it many times. Copying, not literally, but reproducing a certain idea our own way, is part of the process of growing as an artist. For example Lynch has copied Buñuel in many of his concepts....and it's perfectly acceptable! (It's also considered good etiquette to name your sources of inspiration...)
9- Sketch your ideas and create a storyline.
It's very useful, even if your film is non-linear and abstract. That way you can organise yourself better too.
8- If you're shooting digitally, do as many takes as possible.
Do different angles and settings. You might surprise yourself choosing the take you never thought of. Experiment also with different backgrounds, and if you're working with cast,you might want to make them repeat a scene until they perform it the way you had it in mind for it to be.

Video Art: not television, not experimental filmFor those who have remotely or no idea what I'm talking about, Video Art is a type of audiovisual art and art movement, that was born in the 60's and makes use of mainstream imagery and sound, but should not be confused with experimental cinema or video.
Video Art is different from Film, because Video Art doesn't strictly need to make use of performers or characters, dialogues, or does not necessarily tell a story or has a plot or intends to narrate a story, like Film does. It's a more abstract use of the media or a an exploration of it and its boundaries.
Video Art comes in two forms:

Video Installation: the audiovisuals (multiple or not) are placed within a context, and they interact with a wide variety of (artistic or not) objects, such as traditional media, creating a whole interrelated environment, or

Single-channel: closer to a television broadcast, a video is screened on a sigle display.
