Oh and cause my reply to your comment on the other poll farted itself up:
Christmas cards!! I knew I was forgetting something o_o
I'll send new year's cards instead or something XD
For a quality image... which I basically classify as something you don't consider a doodle, since you whip up some great things without much thought... I'd definitely lean closer to the $100 range. I'm a bit of a tightass when it comes to buying art, I tend to accept higher pricing from people who are well known, acclaimed, or whatever. Hmm, but then from considered 'famous' I'd pay maybe $200 when they'd want $900, so I guess I'm just a tightass. As I said in my last comment, it all depends on the content of the image for me, since I don't want to fork out money for something that's entirely superficial. If it's pretty, I could see paying $50, if it really appeals to me and has more than a resplendent unicorn and big full moon (think of something I got as a kid XD) then definitely I'd lean over the $100 range.
Also it would depend on how the piece is presented. Buying a lovely picture on a piece of watercolor paper alone seems rather cheap when I'm wanting to buy a piece of art. Block mounting, a quick frame or something on... I forget what it is, something similar to particle board but pretty light... makes a piece seem more worthwhile since it's all ready for you to hang up and enjoy rather than fold in your pocket and forget about. I'm a huge fan of block mounting XD
That's kind of rambly... but I hope I made some sense ^^
Oh yes, i know what block mounting is now! I was going to get some prints done in that. London drugs has a service like that for photos but i asked them once and they said they can do the same for prints. I think if i brought in soem DA prints they could do it easily. ( by the way, I jsut got 16 of my own prints on da for less than 5 bucks canadian! i dunno if they are having a sale or if 20 cents in te real base price for a 10x15 but i was STOKED!)
Yes you make sense=3
I like buying my own characters too XD LOL well I have some of your characters as printsbut you already have those originals HAHA!
But ya, I've bought other peoples orignal characters before and quite like them. in a sense they are jsut characters to me.. jsut the people, but its also nice to think that someone created that character and develops them too. i find original charactes (vs random people) have much more expression because people have developed the personality so much.
my votes are all falling in the between 100 and 200 catagory which works out well for me.
after Xmas i am going over to granville island to get some of my prints framed for starters then I might start fussing with originals.
I wonder if opus does the block framing.. I hate thier website tho.. EVERYTHING is a PDF file and i hate those damn things.
haha! you know, sometimes i make up peoples fam in my mind XD like I'll find some art I really like and then all of a sudden my train of thought goes along " well if they are this good they must be proffessionals, and god, i could be buying art from a disney animator" haha!
tho i am a big fan of buying from the lesser known artists =3
anyways, I ramble too.. i am going to check the opus website now .. grumble
$100-$200 for me, again a bit of that is because I'm not inclined to buy art of other people's characters XD If it were my own, I'd probably pay more (but then I'd be commissioning wouldn't I? XD) or if it were just people in a scene.
And then that begs the question, what if I didn't know they were characters? XD
Print, I would say at least $80-$100
But for the original peice you could easily get $200-$300
You've got the skills there and the classy style, it's not just huge chested CG garbage that gets spewed out all over the place, this is a real peice of art.
I think that if you put it on a more proffessional online sale gallery than DA you could probably get a bit more for it as well.
If you sold it matted and in a simple frame you could get $400 I think too.
But I would sell it amoung real artist auctions or something, you would get people who know good work when they see one.
My plan.. or at least an idea I am tossing around is to have an original art sale site like puimun kinda.. sell prints nad have special sales for some of my originals.
after all, i am you know, a working proffessional, and i am jsut sasting all my skills making pennies here and there on go gaia commissions and shitty little contract jobs. after I get my acrylics and oils all together it would be nice if i could start making soem more fantasy/realistic works too. like or animals nad landscapes and have a huge variety. i am also realyl digging the idea of getting into some paleo art as well =3
maybe you could make me a nice classy gallery layout?
Maybe I could make you that^_^
Guru' s Personal Shop.
